When to harvest cauliflower

As I was wandering around my garden I came upon something that I didn’t remember planting. Oops. In my defense I was planting a lot of seed, some of it mine, some of it from my mom to play around with. My jaw dropped and I yelled to Lee “come look what I’m growing!” Yes, I am growing cauliflower, but as it was in the leafy greens area they all just kind of blended in together.

You should harvest the cauliflower when the curds begin to separate a bit. I had to look this up as it is the first time I have grown cauliflower. Don’t worry about hurting the plant when you harvest, as it is not like broccoli and won’t grow back any new curds. Lee says that I should mention that this variety we are growing is supposed to have purple color in it. No need to adjust your monitor.
