Snow geese

It snowed here and the geese don’t seem at all phased by the white stuff. They continue to live up to their contrary nature and refuse to spend any time under cover.

Waiting around

In fact, I saw them bathing in the snow like it was water from their wading pool.

Chilling

Lee boiled some water to break up the ice in their pool. They use it like an enormous waterer when they aren’t bathing in it.

Thawing the water

I think in this picture they are saying, “Give us our **** food, we don’t care about the lousy water!!!”

Cold feet

The picture below is geese munching their grain pellets of course.

Geese eating

This is the loser goose. He isn’t allowed to eat with the rest of them. The top male wants all the lovely ladies to himself. This goose thinks he’s a jerk.

I came by to tell you my news, and was taken by your snow and your geese! We got up to 73 today! and I’ve been having my own go-rounds with guinea fowl. They are a hoot.

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you I’ve published a homesteading book! I’m so excited I want to tell the whole world. Please do drop by my blog if you get the chance, to help me celebrate. :)

Congratulations on your new book Leigh. That must be so exciting for you! :)

73 degrees sounds pretty great right about now.

Again, great photos! It looks like a winter-wonderland with the snow-covered pines and geese. Straight out of a fairytale!

It did seem like a winter wonderland. This is the first year that we got snow that I didn’t play in it. It was so cold and dry you couldn’t do anything with the powder. By the time you could finally pack the snow I was so stir crazy from being stuck in the house I wanted to do errands instead. I’m officially old and lame. hehehee
