In September 2008 we purchased a 1937 farm house on 4.6 acres in the verdant Willamette Valley of Oregon. The interior was a total loss, the immediate grounds were “waste deep” in trash, and half the fields were overrun with 12 foot blackberries and volunteer hazel nut groves. This blog chronicles our headlong dive into cleanup, remodeling, land clearing, fencing, gardening, animal husbandry, pasture management, and more. It’s exhausting. It’s rewarding. It’s madness. It’s clarifying. It’s our farm folly.
